IEEE Region-10 Director

Welcome to IEEE Region 10 SYWL Congress 2020. This is a regular biennial event meant to offer a platform for IEEE volunteers from different Sections to network, interact, and learn from each other.

The previous Congress was held in Bali, Indonesia, in 2018, and a large number of volunteer participants got together enjoying fruitful discussions and networking together. This year, our Congress was slated to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, but because of the COVID-19 Pandemic we’re obliged to make it fully virtual.

Under the leadership of Zia Ahmed, General Chair, and Supavadee Aramvith, General Co-Chair, our Chairs of the Region 10 Committees of
Students, Young Professionals, Women in Engineering, and Life Members have all worked very hard for the preparation of this year’s
Congress. The theme of this year’s Congress is “Pandemic to Opportunity – Collaborative Leadership toward Technology Advancement for
Humanity.”

There are four main tracks: Students, Young Professionals, Women in Engineering, and Life Members, with some joint sessions. Special Educational Activities and Standard Association Sessions are also planned. We’ve prepared some entertainment, too, just as for past SYWL Congresses.

Unlike our conventional R10 SYWL Congress model, the duration this year is 15 days, and the timespan for each day is shorter, so that more volunteers can conveniently attend online. Actual dates and times for each session will be confirmed on the Congress program website.

I hope everyone understands this arrangement and will enjoy the 2020 Congress, in so doing helping to transform this Pandemic into a real Opportunity.
